A milestone for the future of Thessaly was the supply of the local pipeline network from the EDA THESS CNG decompression station in Tyrnavos. The inauguration of the first CNG station in Thessaly took place on Saturday 20.10.2018, at the Central Square of Tyrnavos.
The first CNG decompression station in Greece was inaugurated yesterday in Lagadas, Thessaloniki, by EDA THESS. The later, abiding by its commitment to supply remote areas has started expanding its distribution network to remote areas with CNG. The Municipality of Lagadas is now the first area in Greece to be supplied with gas through CNG technology.
Once again, EDA THESS is actively participating in the 83rd Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). Its Pavilion inauguration took place on Sunday 09.09.2018 in the presence of Mr. V. Bouras, EDA THESS President, and BoD Members, Mr. L. Bakouras, EDA THESS General Manager, Mr. P. Galizzi, ENI Gas e Luce, Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs, Mr. D. Tzortzis, DEPA CEO and the whole staff of the Company.
Following the issuance of the Framework for the Development of Remote Distribution Networks using Compressed/Liquid Natural Gas by RAE, it is expected that within 2018 Koufalia and Chalastra in Thessaloniki as well as Kalampaka and Elassona in Thessalia, will be supplied with natural gas, based on the concession agreements signed between the Municipalities and EDA THESS for the installation of the natural gas decompression units, for the supply of the above mentioned areas.
Οn Monday, July 2nd, 2018, a meeting between the Brigadier Mr. Kostopoulos D., EDA THESS’s General Manager Mr. Bakouras L. and the Manager of Development & New Connections in Thessaly, Mrs. Kalogirou E., was held, at the offices of the School of Permanent Army Officers in Trikala.
A meeting was held between the Metropolitan Bishop of Thessalia and Fanariofersalon, Timotheos, and Father Amphilochios, with EDA THESS’s General Manager Mr. Leonidas Bakouras and the Manager of Development & New Connections in Thessalia, Mrs. Efthymia Kalogirou, in the Holy Metropolis of Karditsa.
Mr. Dimitrios Tzortzis, DEPA CEO and Dr. Kiriaki Karakitsou, Division Head, Subsidiaries’ follow-up visited EDA THESS’ premises where they were informed by Mr. Leonidas Bakouras, General Manager and Executive Managers on the gas penetration progress, the distribution network safety and the main pillars of the Investment Plan of the Company for the next five years.
The CEO of ENI Gas e luce S.p.A., Mr. Alberto Chiarini, the Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs Mr. Pietro Galizzi, the General Manager Mr. Leonidas Bakouras and executives of the Gas Distribution Company Thessaloniki-Thessalia S.A. (EDA THESS), have visited the most technologically updated decompression station of EDA THESS in Lagkadas, Thessaloniki, which may directly supply the area with natural gas.
With absolute success, today 16/02/18, Gas Distribution Company Thessaloniki – Thessalia S.A. (EDA THESS), proceeded to the first supply with compressed natural gas in Greece, regarding an immediate intervention scenario after a network breakdown in a reduction-metering station, placed in the premises of the industry Cosmos Profil in Larisa, in 8th klm of National Road of Larisa – Athina, Nikaias Node.

(EDA THESS), Mr. Leonidas Bakouras and company’s executives met at EDA THESS’ premises, the Mayor of Oraiokastro, Mr. Asterios Gavotsis, accompanied by Deputy Mayors and representatives of the Municipal Council, on the examination of the development of the natural gas network in the areas of Migdonia and of Kallithea.
