10.01.2019
In conditions of continuous frost and successive snowfall, which occurred in the Company’s License areas, with temperatures reaching -15 degrees Celsius, a historic record of distributed quantities reaching 4.9 mil. cubic meters (~55.370 MWh) of natural gas in a daily basis, was recorded, compared to normal daily consumption ranging in 2.5 mil. cubic meters (~28.250 MWh).
More specifically, for the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki, the distributed volumes registered a new maximum consumption of 3.15 mil. cubic meters (~35.595 MWh) per day, and for the Region of Thessaly respectively, the quantities reached 1.75 mil. cubic meters (~19.775 MWh) per day.
EDA THESS has taken all the necessary measures to ensure the continuous operation of the distribution network, informed consumers about the measures to be taken concerning the heating facilities and strengthened the operation of the call center. At the same time, all municipal authorities were informed about municipal buildings, especially about schools.
In addition, it was ensured that all remote areas were supplied continuously with CNG, in the first year of operation of EDA THESS’ natural gas Decompression Stations, although temperatures reached -13 degrees Celsius in Lagada and -14.6 degrees Celsius in Elassona.
The Company, and especially the Network Operation and Maintenance Unit, is on a continuous on-call state to deal with emergencies and malfunctions.
EDA THESS’ main concern is both the uninterrupted distribution of natural gas in the License areas and the safe operation of the distribution network.
